Hamilton Olympic Club

It is with profound sadness that we pass on the news that club registrar, coach and athlete, Rhona Trott, passed away recently in her home.

Rhona was an integral part of the Hamilton Olympic Club for a period spanning fifty years. She began her time with the club as an athlete, and never gave that aspect up participating in many masters events and setting numerous provincial and national masters records.

But whatever Rhona took out of participation in track and field, she gave back one hundred fold. She served the club and the track and field community in a number of capacities over the years. Most recently, she was the club registrar and secretary as well as the face of our Youth Development Program. She was also the long time coordinator of the track and field portion of the CANUSA Games, the annual competition between the cities of Hamilton, Ontario and Flint, Michigan, USA.

Rhona’s  commitment to amateur athletics in Hamilton did not prevent her from serving the community in other capacities. She was a tireless member of the Board of Directors of the Sackville Seniors Centre on Hamilton mountain.

Rhona’s loss leaves an unffillable void in the track and field community. We extend our deepest sympathies to her family, including her daughter Aleya and son Caleb.

RIP Rhona
